TARC Fest XI

April 17, 2004

“Florida’s Friendliest Tailgate” was a great success!  The weather was promised to be perfect, and it was!   So were the Kathy Burgers!

So many, though, were getting neck strain looking up at the new super tower that is growing in the back yard.   Over 100' tall and we have yet to top it off!  This will be the new visual land-mark for the Tampa Amateur Radio Club.

The description of this fest has been simple said as  WOW!

TARC Fest X

August 23rd 2003

By Biff Craine, K4LAW

TARCFest X, "Florida's Friendliest Tailgate" is just around the corner. The date for the Tenth Tampa Amateur Radio Club Tailgate is
Saturday August 23, 2003, with set up for tailgaters beginning at 7:00am and trading opening up at 8:00am to the public. The tailgate runs usually until about 1:00pm or until the last lie told or last boatanchor sold. Talk In will be on the 147.105 repeater. All are welcome.

This will be our tenth tailgate and each one has been fun and exciting.
TARCFest IX in April 2003 was our most successful event to date with a record number of sellers and buyers. This August the traders will once again gather under the shade trees at our clubhouse to wheel and deal.

Admission will be $2 per person with children 12 and under free. Those who wish to set up for tailgating will be charged an additional $3. Plenty of spaces will be available in the tailgate area for sellers. And of course, free parking for the buyers. There are a limited number of spaces inside with indoor tables at $15.00 in advance.

For additional details please feel free to view our webpage at
www.hamclub.org or if you have any specific questions email k4law@arrl.net.

We look forward to the same big crowds we had last August and, as
always, hamburgers, hot dogs, specialty sandwiches and liquid refreshments will be available throughout the morning.

Come for the fun, come for the deals. Come to TARCFest X!

Directions: From anywhere take I-275 to Sligh Avenue, proceed east on Sligh to the intersection of Sligh and 22nd Street and turn left (north) at the light. The Tampa Amateur Radio Club Amateur Radio Operations Center is at the end of 22nd Street, 7801 N. 22nd Street in the shade of the KLM KT34 XA.

See you there.

TARC Fest IX

April 19, 2003

It's over, and it was the best yet!  TARC Fest IX was all that was promised and more!  There were 54 tail-gaters outside plus Dixie the push-up pole lady, and CGA Enterprises.  Best part is we had 346 tickets sold at the gate alone!  We concluded the great fest with a license testing session where 5 took a total of 7 exams!  Great success all the way around.  How in the world are we going to do better than this on TARC Fest X?  Which, by the way will be on August 23rd!  See you there.

TARC Fest VIII

August 24, 2002

TARC Fest VIII was in a single word, FANTASTIC!  There was so much going on, and the crowds were thick.  And how we ever forget the great hot dogs and hamburgers that has been one of the trade marks from TARC Fest?  Check out the photo's below, and we all hope you can join us for TARC Fest IX on April 19, 2003.

The following pictures were taken from 7:30am until about 9:15am and the patrons were still coming in!

TARC Fest Mascot.  He was hare just for the fest!

TARC Fest VII

April 20, 2002

How do you top TARC Fest VI?  Simple, TARC Fest VII!  We had to line them up on the outside!  With well over 300 patrons and some 40 tail-gaters, and a nice handful of commercial vendors, everyone did well!  There was more activity and exchange than on the exchange floor.  And, ooohhh, those Kathy Burgers!  And a new treat this year was "tested" to the patrons, sausage and onions.  Such a hit, it'll be back!  Think we could do better?  Let's find out in August!

TARC Fest VI

August 25, 2001

They Just Keep Getting Better and Better

With over 30 vender/tail gators and the massive amount of traffic that poor Biff had to check in at the gate, TARC Fest VI was another great success.  There were more boat-anchors and lotsa-new-in-da-box things being taken back to the cars.  And who can turn down a Kathy Burger?

I managed to get a few pictures.  Hard to do with a toddler climbing all over.  Speaking of climbing, there are a couple of shots from the main tower.  Not of, FROM.

Hope to see you at TARC Fest VII!

TARC Fest V

April 21, 2001

Another Great Success from the Staff and Member of TARC!

Now do we know to put on a party or what?  TARC Fest V, another great hit!  The tail-gate slots were full before 8am and people kept coming and coming all day.  Great opportunity to introduce Ham radio to new people.  We had a satellite station making contacts around the world, demonstration of PSK31 and even a bit of packet!  And TARC fest would be incomplete without the food, so our thanks go toN4SEX, and KG4KYJ for  cooking up the burgers and dogs!!!!.

Keep checking here for photos from TARC Fest V.

TARC Fest IV

August 26 , 2000

Great Day, Great Deals, Great Friends

Okay, we did it!  And no Midnight Madness to get in the way!  Even the former TS Debbie stayed away all morning long!  What am I talking about?  A wonderfully successful TARC Fest!  That's what I am talking about.  Even K4OXG made enough selling is long collected treasures to give his mom that pancreas transplant she needed!  So I am sure he is going to get a new rotor....

All kidding aside TARC Fest IV was a great success.  I got the digital pictures back from the developers!  I hope you enjoy them at least as half as much as we did at TARC fest IV.

The best part of TARC Fest IV being over is now we can start planning on TARC Fest V !

TARC Fest III

April 15, 2000

If you weren't there, you missed out!  It's that simple.  And if you are just finding out about the TARC fest because you don't read your e-mail, listen to the repeater, come to the meetings, look at the web site, read the news-letter, or get your voice-mail messages then you are a bit out-of-touch don't you think?  Below you will find pictures of the early morning setups and a couple during the day.  My mistake, I never made it inside to photograph the goings on in the club house, but I still had fun outside. Including hooking my laptop up to a color monitor put on the roof of my truck, and the sound through the truck stereo playing Armageddon.  Okay, I guess I could of brought a Disney flick, but hey, it was 5:00am and I was not thinking yet.  I don't think I have this tail-gating thing worked out right.  I seem to spend more money than I sell.  Oh well, we still enjoyed it.

If you have any digital or digitized photos of TARC Fest III, please email them to me at n4zxi@hamclub.org so I can post them on here!

What I want to know is how did KC4JQH get all that stuff in that truck and still have room for K4OXG?
